Bringing additional value to the local community
The £20.5m extra care scheme being delivered by South Ribble Borough Council has demonstrated a raft of additional value to young people through training, the local community and to the local economy.
Principal contractor Caddick Construction pledged a £6.6m social value investment to create a legacy through a host of initiatives to support the community.
Supporting local employment and training
70 people have been employed - seven of which are local people, 4 of which were long term unemployed, two who are rehabilitating or ex-offenders and one who was not in education or training
20 hours has been spent providing support to unemployed people through career mentoring, including mock interviews, CV advice, and careers guidance
Provided 52 weeks of apprenticeship training
Provided 6 weeks of meaningful work placements
Provided 52 weeks of other training opportunities
Encouraging young people into the world of work
20 hours of staff visits to local schools and colleges delivering career talks
Dedicated 20 hours to provide advice to support young people into work
Boosting the local economy
Spent £4m through the local supply chain
Spent £250,000 on local small and medium sized businesses
Supporting the local community
Made £5,000 in donations to local community projects
Invested up to £4,00 to support initiatives to help community health and wellbeing and to tackle homelessness
