Rent and charges

There are different parts to the costs of living in Extra Care accommodation. People may be entitled to help with some or all of these costs, depending on their individual circumstances and eligibility for benefits. Eligible individuals will have a need for care and support as assessed by Lancashire County Council.

Tenants will be responsible for other costs of living in their own home such as TV Licence, contents insurance, telephone. The above figures are estimated and are subject to change. Eligibility for benefits is based on individual financial circumstances.

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support entitlement is based on each individual’s circumstances and is means tested, the amount of support you may receive depends on who lives with you, household income, benefits you receive and any savings you have.

Lancashire County Council will undertake a financial assessment to calculate the financial contribution towards care services. Also a full benefits check will be completed to maximise benefits which will help towards the cost of your care services.

South Ribble Borough Council will complete financial assessments with each household to ensure affordability of the tenancy; by completing a full benefit check, we can make sure you are in receipt of all benefits you are entitled to.
